Supported Independent Living (SIL)
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is assistance for people who need help with daily tasks so they can live as independently as possible. SIL homes are usually shared living environments with dedicated support staff.

SIL includes support with:
Personal care (showering, dressing, hygiene)
Meal preparation and cooking
Medication assistance
Household tasks like cleaning and laundry
Building independence and daily living skills
24/7 onsite or on-call support
A Safe, Comfortable Break With Fully Supported Temporary Stays
Short-Term Accommodation (STA)
Short-Term Accommodation (previously known as respite care) provides temporary stays away from home for NDIS participants.

STA is ideal for:
Individuals wanting a short break from their usual environment
Families and carers who need time to rest or attend to personal matters.
Building confidence, social skills, and independence
STA stays typically include:
24/7 support
Meals
Activities and community access
Personal care assistance
Transitional Housing While You Move Into Your Long-Term Home
Medium-Term Accommodation (MTA)
Medium-Term Accommodation is temporary housing for people who are waiting for a more permanent home arrangement to be ready.

MTA is designed for situations such as:
Waiting for SIL or SDA (Specialist Disability Accommodation) approval
Delays in home modifications
Transitioning out of hospital or another support setting
Features of MTA:
Support services as needed (depending on the participant’s plan)
Safe, fully furnished accommodation
Typically funded for up to 90 days
Short Breaks That Support Wellbeing for Participants and Carers
Respite Homes
Respite homes offer short breaks—similar to STA—but are often more flexible and focused on wellbeing, routine relief, and renewal.

MTA is designed for situations such as:
A change of environment in a supportive setting
Personal support tailored to the participant's needs
Time for carers and families to recharge
Opportunity to engage in new activities
